Question:

I know they made new $20 bills a little while ago. My friend told me they are going to make new $50 bills now. Is that true?

It surely is, Tracy. In fact, the new $50 bills arrived in banks on September 28, 2004. The new bills are pretty cool, they have even better security features than before. There are very faint background colors of blue and red, there are images of a waving American flag and there is a small metallic silver-blue star. Guess what else? They have plans to make new $10 bills that should be out in the spring of 2005. Sometime after that, they are going to change the $100 bills, too. Cool, huh? (Like, how many of us are going to be using $100 bills! But we can dream, can't we?) Right now they aren't planning on changing the $1 or $5 bills, but you never know!

Did You Know?

There are 3 important security features the $50 bill has. 1) There is a watermark that can be seen from both sides when held up to the light, 2) there is a security strip in the paper that has writing on it (it can also be seen when held up to the light), and 3) there is a number on the bottom right of the page that changes colors when the bill is tilted.
