Welcome / Purpose

This web site, Bankjr.com, was the idea of a mother. She saw the need to teach children about what money is and how it works. In 1999, she suggested to her son, creative director at Zions, that perhaps a web site could be developed to make such information available to kids.

Zions Bank wants students, their teachers and their parents to appreciate money and make it their friend. They need to learn to use it, and numbers in general, with confidence. Numbers and math won't go away after formal schooling. All of us use them every day especially where our personal finances are involved.

Research has shown that young people determine their attitude about how they value and handle money by the time they finish the 5th grade. So let's teach them more to enable them to make better decisions.

Concerned about the rate of both business and personal bankruptcies in Utah and across the country, Zions Bank wants to make a major contribution to our community. Greater understanding of these topics will benefit students, parents and teachers and, in general, the entire community.

We welcome you to Bankjr.com. We will continue to provide supplemental information, which we hope will assist you in your efforts to teach your child how to handle money wisely. For personal finance information on a high school level, we invite you to discover www.bankhs.com.

Your comments and suggestions for revisions or additions are always welcome and needed to make this site as useful as possible. Call us at 801-693-7215 or send your comments by e-mail to web.updates@zionsbancorp.com.
